The Assassin Bug List (Community Input Needed)

3. Ability Issues

* Dexterity does not affect many of the assassins stats such as attack or defense rating and evade.

* Passive abilities and feats can not be triggered without breaking stealth.

* Crossbow has no abilities offered, as well as takes a long time to get off a shot.

* Golden Lotus Extract

* Lunge does not affect stealth attack damage properly.

* Fallen NPCs can still observe the assassin, this disallows the use of the hide ability.

* Curse of the Lotus

* Casters do not require stamina to be efficient in combat. (Balancing Issue)

* If the target does not have any flesh rot counters, all combat and abilities will lock up, this forces a log out.

* Cloth armor has no bearing on evade chance.

I am a good assassin.

* Snap kick does not appear to be working as intended.

* Light gem does not accurately portray the assassins cover in the shadows.

* Corrupting Strikes

* The amount of stamina the assassin has - has no bearing on the distance he/she can sprint.

5. Equipment

* Combos that are 3-4 moves in length stick at the third or fourth key in the chain. (Slow Death Strikes, Swift Strikes etc.)

* Stealth attack will occasionally miss a target that appears to be in front of the assassin.

* Daytime stealth is inconsistent even when approaching enemy from the rear.

* Pets continue to follow the assassin after reentering stealth mode.

2. Combat Issues

* Dagger range is too short. The assassin must be nearly on top of his/her target in order to land an attack.

* Directional movement WASD requires a large amount of stamina.

* Soul Prison

* Falling short non-damaging distances breaks the assassin out of stealth.

* From the Darkness send the assassin to aoc gold the last known location, not where the target currently is.

My stealth skill is 800, I am level 80, I stealth attack for over 2000, but level 20 wolves can still detect me.

Think of every assassination you’ve ever heard of, dreamt, read, watched, or considered (I hope not, but it’s here anyways). What is the common theme? More than likely, it’s that your ‘mark’ or target, is otherwise occupied. By this I mean that they have no inkling about what is to transpire.

We can view this in the historical sense of political assassinations. We have the sniper fire, usually during a speech or event, that takes down the mark while they’re unaware or occupied with their surroundings. The same can go for the crowded room pistoleer, who leaps out of the crowd waving a firearm.

I believe there is a reason for age of conan gold this, and I applaud Funcom for having the guts to take such a stance.

This, in my opinion, is how Funcom intended the Assassin class to be played.

Historically, Assassins don’t declare their presence until they act. They don’t tell the mark that they’re going to be assassinated at such and such time, doing such and such things. The Assassin stacks the odds in their favor in order to achieve the best possible outcome. People who are seeking ‘honorable’ fights might be best served elsewhere, as this is probably not the role of the Assassin class.

We rely on distraction, deception, and devastating age of conan gold attacks.

How can we translate this to AoC? We’re in an environment surrounded by distractions. This can come in the form of resources, quest items, mobs, npcs, other players, or even real life events that pull us away from the keyboard. These are all activities which places your mark in the same historical scenario as those who have fallen in the past. Busy, unaware, and unsuspecting of the malicious intruder stalking them.

The common thread is that the mark doesn’t know what is going to happen until it’s already happened. That their ability to react to any given situation is hampered by the pace at which such event is unfolding.

There have been quite a number of posts/threads recently, with folks struggling to come to terms with what it means to be a member of the Assassin class. It’s true, we’re rogues, that is our Archetype. However, unlike the other two classes within the Rogue Archetype, we’re not very good at fighting toe to toe.

The combo animation plays, age of conan gold but none of your hits appear to land. Once the animation plays FULLY through you will see DODGE/PARRY/MISS/BLOCK.

The current evade levels are rediculous. When fighting an opponent who is not moving I often hit clobber (hitting thin air so I move-cancel), hit clobber again (hitting thin air so I move-cancel), hit clobber again now it is connecting so I let animation play through —>> load up a 4 direction combos (hitting thin air so move cancel), use stunning punch (hitting thin air so move-cancel), reuse stunning punch and let animation play through because its connecting, load up a 4 direction combo and it lands, player starts to run and im hitting his back (dodge, parry, dodge, miss, dodge).

Thats right, if you cancel a combo that is hitting thin air (because at the end of the animation is was going to be evaded) and simply move during the animation you will be able to relaunch your combo. This will still cost you the stamina of the combo but will prevent your combo from going on cooldown so that you can reuse it.

This is how rediculous evasion is right now. To test it aoc gold yourself simply swing at a friend who is afk 100 times. He will auto dodge and parry 30% of your attacks.

One can only assume that evasion rates are currently bugged considering how high they are. Now here is a general gaming tip to everyone which should help them drastically until the evasion bug is fixed. Cancel your combos.

Edit: The June 23 Patch has not alleviated this issues. All physical damage attacks continue to be avoided through dodge/parry at a rate of 30% or more in PVP on characters who have a listed 6% evasion rate.

After doing several tests I have discovered what is actually happening with combos (note: all testing was pvp testing against pvp opponents). The latest patch has made evade rates so high that 30%+ of combos and melee attacks you launch will be miss/dodge/parry/block and simply not land. Here is what happens when you launch a combo that is going to be evaded:

So, having said all this, HoXs are one of the best solo AoE grinders in the game. I actually got paid for allowing a ranger to group with me since they XP so slowly. As soon as you can learn to AoE grind. I was getting 9-10 chain kills by myself with this strat. ven with DE and AoX down you can still effectively take smaller groups with HFB, HS, whatever. I use WoC a lot in PvE as well to set up combos outside of combat to maximize my damage deal and minimize mine taken.

But, on to the Herald.

If you take a good look at the feats you’ll notice it’s a very PvP oriented spec, however it also performs well in PvE. Lets go over the feats, and why we have them:

So, the Herald is very susceptible to CC and you’ll die a lot from getting chain KDed in this area, and probably any other area with large groups that KD. But if you execute perfectly these manuvers, you will survive.

Possesion

I’ve been solo farming the East ruins in Keshatta age of conan gold since level 72. I’ve died a lot, I’m not going to lie, but I’ve been leveling like crazy. Yeas, the Herald can effectively handle large groups of mobs. And, I’ll tell you how. Keep in mind this is more focused around level 74, where you can have Aox, HVoX and Molten Flesh. You can probably get them sooner, I think, but this is how I specced.

-It’s an AoE. Yes, and AoE. If 10 guys are hitting you, then 10 guys gt hit aoc gold back for each person who attacked. So, in their 1 attack, assuming Molten Flesh retaliates every hit, and I haven’t confirmed this, you’re looking at them getting hit 10 times each. (It’s more like 7-8, I’m pretty sure.) But basically, they fall over and die.

5/5 Butcher: Again, PvE.

1/1 Undying Glory of Xotli: While I wish I didn’t have to cast the buff because it’s annoying, it’s still helpful in soem situations so you don’t have to run back to your grind spots. Just sit dead until your potion/De cds are up so you can insure you survive if you’re around mobs.

5/5 Demon Within: 37 seconds of Demon Form even if it isn’t AoX (Even though not bing in AoX makes me want to cry a little inside.) is amazing. Get it. Why? Because you have to.

3/3 Roots in Hell: Da plane boss, da plane! (Sorry, I was tyring to distract you from how much this feat needs fixing.)

5/5 Imp Fiery Weapons: More damage for your procs, another no brainer to have, and far better than Spreading Flames.

1/1 Thundering Flames: It’ll get fixed, I swear!

5/5 Demonic Leech: More mana back from BaSW is a ‘yes’ for PvE mostly. The mana gain is huge, shouldn’t be ignored, and provides more bang for your buck than anything else you can pick.

The Herald is a power class at high levels. Early in the game it suffers from some issues though, in that it has very limited ability to control anything, and without upgrades to skills its damage flounders. Many people quit their Heralds before getting past this point, but some don’t. Now, on with the show!

This is all I’m going to cover for now, I’ll be posting about the HoX in raids as soon as I’m able to do them, hopfully have a good rotation down, but I can guess my Rotation is going to follow a fairly simple pattern: MSS -> HS -> BaSW, while spamming HFB. Perhaps I’ll be able to fit in BtD as well. Since I have points in Butcher, I want to maximize it’s use.

1/1 Avatar of Xotli: Avatar makes dead babies cry. Some people will tell you not to get it, it’s cookie cutter! So what, the other 70 feats suck, and so do the feats leading up to them. This line is really the best for PvP and PvE, hands down. If you wanted an IWIN button, Avatar is this button.

Step 3: Cast DE to activate HVoX (Or Avatar, your choice.) and stun the group. Cast HFB again for more damage.

5/5 Hellfire: This one’s really a no brainer, I’m pretty sure that every HoX can agree it’s imperatitve you have this feat.

Step 4: Cast Exultation of Xotli. The moment HVoX wears off, cast Molten Flesh. Everything dies, white swings and HFBs finish the group off quickly.

5/5 Fiery Weapons: A suprisingly good feat, procs do more damage than my normal white hits, and probably increase my damage substantially.

3/3 Mindless Brute: Large gain at little cost, a must have.

5/5 Desecration: A minute and a half CD on DE? Yes. Yes. YES.

1/1 Blood Pit: I got this because of my current grinding spot, and I’ll probably kep it. 200+ Health regen at my level is very good, and it spawns quite often.

2/2 Wrath of Xotli: A 50% damage increaser to Demons form DoT that works on Avatars insanely high damage already is a must have. Great for PvE and PvP, get damage where you can.

3/3 Fury of Xotli: A PvE wonderchild, really helps out your mana bar by removing the cost of at least 50% of the HFBs you do. Helps sometimes in PvP too, where I go through my mana very fast.

2/2 Reaching Flames: The reason I got this is because to be PoF has a really wonky hitbox. Taking this helps to insure I actually hit the person and has great PvE functionality as well.

3/3 Burning Words: DoT to root? I think so! Mostly I couldn’t find anything better to put my points into.

3/3 Flame of Xotli: You’ll read a lot of posts from 80s telling you that BtD sucks at later levels and I can assure this is not the case. Ys, the casting animation is slow, I won’t lie, but the DoT ticks for 400-500. To me, this combo is my opener against tanks and healers. See ‘PvP’ for details.

3/3 Horrible Visage of Xotli: The bread and butter of a PvP build, and amazing for PvE as well. If I had a silver for the amount of times HVoX has saved my life I could buy my own guild city. The stun lasts a good 5 seconds. Enough time for most combos.

You don’t take a ton of damage, but sometimes you might get KDed before you get WoC off, if this happens, spam potion and WoC and hope for the best. Mobs can chain KD, and it sucks, you’ll die. Oh well. It’s a short run. Shorter if you have UGoX up. One of the reasons this is so effective at farming is because of Molten Flesh. This ability is fairly lackluster by itself, except for a few things:

- .5 second cast, NO MANA COST. It’s totally free for you to use. I am all about free fast casting spells. Especially effective ones.

-It gets +Fire Damage from Demon Form. Avatared Molten Flesh hits for about 200.

2/2 Molten Flesh: Many people will tell you this sucks, and I disagree, so much. I’ll explain why in my ‘PvE’ section of playing a Herald.

Step 1: Sprint along the edge of mob groups until you have the size of the group you want. Usually I pull about 10-12, and sometimes 20 mobs. Get them as close together as you can.

1/1 Renewed Exultation of Xotli: Some people say this sucks, I disagree. As it is now I use EoX a ton. At my level it’s a +30% damage increase! The downfall is only -20%, and I can kill a pull in 10 seconds, easy.

1/1 Fire Lance: Even if it got nerfed, I’ll still use it. It still serves a purpose as a high burst damage attack. The reduction to 3 attack combo means I can EoX bfore the final hit more reliably.

A few things to notice: I did not take any general mage feats, after much thinking I decided they really aren’t worth the cost, and the survivability return is low. Having more damage and more options in the end gives you far more survivability. Now onto playing your HoX:

2/2 Improved WoC: Amazing feat to be honest, and also I don’t know if it’s the feat or the fact that I’ve leveled up but WoC rarely ever breaks on damage anymore, making this an amazing thing to have, and WoC and amazing CC for us.

3/3 Rage of Xotli: Personally, I’m a big fan of Hell Strikes. It’s really mostly all I use in PvE, so I wanted this build to implement some of teh good things of PvE while having the best of PvP, and I’m not a huge fan of Pillar of Flame, because to me it’s hitbox seems to suck. So I went Hellstrikes instead, I think it provides more utility, while also holding it’s own in PvP.

1/5 Spitfire: I picked this up because I heard report of it increasing the damage of your next attack by something like 25%. I haven’t seen this, but I had no where else to put this point, so I have it, sometimes I use it, but mostly filler.

3/3 Demonic Link: Another stunning feat near doubling the damage dealt in Demon and Avatar forms. There is no reason not to have this.

5/5 Flame Tongue: This feat is crap. Horrible. At my level 5 stacks gives about +30 Fire damage to melee. It lasts about 8 seconds, so you basically hav to spam HFB to keep it up. We have it for one reason.

Most people only care about..

People only care about classes being OP. They clearly don’t care about the heading of the game.

So, in a couple of months, AoC will be swarming with lack age of conan gold lustered classes that aren’t unique or defined in anyway.

The direction the classes are heading isn’t anywhere good. Everything is getting toned down and less exciting to play. Sooner or later, Barbs, Demo, Assassins, HoX, Ranger will only be a shell of themselves also.

Now that ToS got nerfed or fixed aoc gold or destroyed, some are yelling for more, most are laughing and pointing. Yet, they don’t see how the AOE nerfs totally destroyed the class’ identity.

they needed the nerfed. Fine. A nerf. Tone down our damage, but not our class definition.

Before people jump up and down and point and say but but…

While I’m not a harcore MMO player any more (wife and kid will do that to you) I still have a deep passion for MMORPGs. In Conan I’ve grown fond of the Tempest of Set class.

While I’m not very high level I’d like to see the class age of conan gold thrive. I wanted to compile a list of issues (bugs, balancing, or otherwise) with the class using the great knowledge you guys possess.

Tempest of Set - Bugs and Balancing Issues - Compiled List

I’d like to update this thread as often as possible to include status updates on fixes as well as a listing of issues. I appreciate all the hard work everyone puts into these forums.

[Reported] - Currently any passive damage we give to the team be it from storm nimbus, storm crown, idol of set’s power upgrade to idol of set or even that of the building storm is seen as our damage not the damage of the person it procs off, leading to large agro additions on top of our otherwise high agro. (Added 5/27/08)

[Confirmed] = A dev confirmed issue. Most likely in coding or testing phase for Funcom.

[Reported] - Faithful of Set procs but is not increasing healing spells. (Added 5/30/08)

[Reported] - Aura of Nebthu duration and cooldown time make this skill less than desirable. (Added 5/27/08)

[Reported] - Degredation of Set is causing agro issues that are not intended.

[Reported] - Growing Storm feat is not working correctly. Tooltip with 5/5 says its supposed to reduce my Life of Sets mana by -25 per stack (25/50/75), but it only reduces by 9(shown by hovering over life of set spell and looking at the mana cost everytime you get a stack). Could be a tooltip issue. (added 6/7/08)

[Reported] - Storm Crown will sometimes trigger from a Desecration tick.

[Reported] - Static Blood appears to be lacking in potency.

BALANCING ISSUES

[Reported] - Cyclone of Set appears to be underpowered for the tier of the feat.

[Reported] - Divide and Conquer — buff icons are inconsistent and duplicative. Spell in general requires significant coordination for theoretical gain — suggest having very visible “+” and “-” icons on peoples’ heads (or something else very immediately visible, like a heavy glow color or something on the players).

[Confirmed] - Spellweaving has been removed for the time being due to bugs. (Fixed 6/2/08)

[Reported] - Lightning Strike for pulling a mob appears aoc gold to be evaded (resisted) multiple times before taking. (Added 5/27/08)

[Reported] - Casting Idol of Set or Cyclone of Set near a resource node will “damage” the node down to 0% (Added 5/27/08)

[Reported] - Lightning Strike’s fatality animation sometimes is not shown properly. (Added 5/27/08)

- Faster animations on most/all combos(the two best suggestions that came up include either reducing damage proportionately, or making the cooldown longer by adding the ‘cast time’ of the final part of the combo to it)

- Hair disappears/changes and weapon sometimes ‘floats’ after demon form fades; sometimes player gets locked into sprint mode

BUGS:

- There seems to be an overabundance of feats that add DoT effects to existing combos. Perhaps change some of these to be more creative/unique(such as adding/improving debuff effects, adding a CC effect, etc)

- Rage of Xotli has an unclear tooltip. Clarification would be helpful

- Pillar of Flame in it’s current state is not very useful. It is meant to be a big AoE combo, however the radius is not much bigger(if at all bigger) than MSS. The damage is also lower and the cooldown is 3x longer. My suggestion to improve this would be to increase the base AoE radius.

- Desecration is reported as not working

IMPROVEMENT/BALANCING CONCERNS AND WISHLIST:

- Customizable demon form(supposedly in the works already? I could be wrong, but this is what I’ve heard)

- Better stun/knockback resistance(the only form of knockback resist we get needs to be specced into, plus it’s only for demon form. Something a little more reliable would be preferable)

- Malefic Chant does not work often, and health returns are small(not verified; tooltip too vague)

- Hellstep affected by the same bug as Soldier charge

- Fury of Xotli has a typo in the tooltip

- Balance Fire Lance to be more economical/viable at lower aoc gold levels and lower stamina pools(perhaps just scale back the damage and stamina cost a bit)

- Flame Cleave does not work

- Female characters apparently have slower attack animations than male characters(general bug that pertains to all classes, but worth noting)

- Of the four top-tier feats, only Avatar of Xotli is claimed to be worth spending a point on. All reports on the other three claim they are vastly underpowered for their placement within the feat trees.

- Many feel Contract of Protection should have a longer duration. This is mainly for convenience, so players don’t need to refresh the buff quite as often.

- Blood Pit does not work 100% of the time when using IEYH on minions

Other topics regarding bugs/balance:

- Crimson Shield and Mirrored Iron do not work

- Hellfire Feast reportedly does not return the proper amount of mana

- Many feel Word of Command is weak compared to other root abilities. Some suggestions include an increased base range, or to have it not break on damage. Improved WoC also is seen as weak, but strengthening the standard spell may solve this

MISC:

- Thundering Flames does not silence like it should

- Improved Burning Skull is seen as very weak; perhaps make it lengthen duration?

Tarchannen’s bug/balance thread

- Reports of Wrath of Xotli not adding as much as it is supposed to(two conflicting opinions on this; more input would help

- Spitfire is viewed by most as very weak, with too little gain on too long of a cooldown.

Okay, I’ve noticed that this forum doesn’t have one of these(at least not one that’s ever on the first couple pages), so I figured I’d get the ball rolling. I definitely don’t know of every bug out there, so if I miss any definitely let me know. I’m also including a wishlist of some of the more popular balancing suggestions I’ve seen around here.

- Some feel this class needs a larger stamina pool

szarmadar’s suggestion/fix thread

- Many feel that the Demonic Fortitude feat should give more stamina per use and/or have a shorter cooldown time. Another suggestion is that this feat should be removed and a stamina gain effect should be added to the feat that adds a mana gain to Body and Spirit Wrack

- Pillar of Infernal Flame fails to damage nearby enemies when the target dies before it goes off

- Horrible Visage of Xotli feat line drains player’s stamina, not the target’s

- Roots of Hell is not working properly

- Better itemization(not class specific, but the more unique classes such as the Herald seem to have very few, if any, pieces of equipment tailored to them outside of Tortage)

Lashkor’s concerns thread

- An attack’s area of effect is determined at the start of the attack animation currently. A suggestion to make combat more fluid and dynamic would be to change this so anything caught in the arc of the swing takes damage, regardless of whether or not they were in range at the start of the animation.

- Many feel that Hellstep should afflict the target with a age of conan gold short-term stun/root/snare, making it easier to catch runners.

- Many have trouble telling when Fiery Weapons goes off. Adding a visual and/or audio effect to signal a proc would be helpful.

- Molten Steel Slash rank III animates faster; does less damage than rank II(possibly intentional?) FIXED(I’ve tested this myself, and MSSIII does indeed do more damage than rank II)

- Purge is not working properly(not verified; tooltip too vague)

Disdain - Actively recruiting on Dagoth

First, I would like to thank everyone for the great amount of interest expressed here, on our website, and in game about becoming apart of Disdain. Over the last few weeks we have gained some great people and have grown at a good pace. With that said, because of our growth and level increases throughout the guild we have decided to raise the level in which we will be recruiting. This is not done because we have changed our aspirations into being hardcore, but because we feel guild grouping is a very important aspect of what we are looking for. We believe that by raising the level in which we recruit that we will not only increase the amount of players that are able to guild group without mentoring, but we will also increase the likelihood that our recruits will stick with their characters and not enter an endless Tortage loop, which is not a bad thing, it just makes it more difficult to group with the rest of the guild.

With the above said:

We currently have around 60 unique members. The majority of the more active members of the guild are 80 or a few levels away. Because of this we will soon begin the raiding and large pvp process, and are recruiting people who will be able to do so on a regular basis. Applicants who would like to join but may not be as active will still be considered aswell. It is also important to note that we do run a private ventrilo server that all members are encouraged to use.

Time zones:

We currently have a wide variety of all classes but are not aoc gold overloaded on any so we are recruiting for all classes.

Members:

We are not currently limiting our recruitment to any particular time zone and do not have any future intent to do so. We currently have a good spread of west coast and east coast players, with a few in the middle.

Disdain is a group of adults who are looking age of conan gold to fully experience everything AoC has to offer in PvP, PvE and crafting. However, do not misconstrue this to mean that we will be a hardcore raid/siege guild. We will siege and raid, but we are not looking to do it 24/7. We are more looking to just have a good time, meet good friends and play at a realistic/average pace. We will do everything in Conan, but IRL is a priority.
